Biography

François-Xavier Jean
my biography:
François-Xavier JEAN is a composer, painter, and French poet born in Paris in 1953. At the age of 20, he left for a year in Quebec (Canada). The following year, the artist moved to Norway, wherein he stayed for three years. When the composer lived in Bergen, he was amazed by the city, and its architecture: Fantoft Churchand, the cottage of Edvard Grieg near Bergen fjord (Troldhaugen) left a deep impression. He plays in a theatre troupe, "May nights" by Alfred de Musset. His troupe played before the Ambassador of France in Oslo. To survive at that time, he received a small grant from a very generous actor: Pelle Christense, who gives courses at the French school, "Friundervisningen". The composer studied the violin with a musician of the Orchestra which later disbanded. Back in France, FXJ learned harmony and counterpoint. He passed successively the Licence, its Capes, and his Master's I & II; while successfully passing two levels of the aggregation of musicology (aggregates). Passionate about writing, the composer's method of composition utilizes developments based on numbers (i.e. Fibonacci series, etc). He has been a Professor for almost thirty years and is now retired. He is currently seeking a Publisher who is able to publish a very revolutionary treatise on counterpoint. He maintains a deep friendship with two composers, one American, and the other French: Anton Verschaupen & Denys Vignon.
